Charles M. Schulz

Charles M. Schulz (1922–2000) was an American cartoonist best known as the creator of the comic strip *Peanuts*. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he grew up in St. Paul and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Schulz launched *Peanuts* in 1950; it ran until his death and became one of the most widely syndicated strips in history. Through characters such as Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, and Linus, he blended humor with themes of insecurity, friendship, and perseverance. Schulz wrote and drew the strip himself throughout its run and received major honors, including the National Cartoonists Society’s Reuben Award.
