Charles Schwab
Charles Michael Schwab (1862–1939) was an American steel magnate and industrialist. Born in Williamsburg, Pennsylvania, he rose from a stake-driver in the steel mills to become a leading executive in the industry. Schwab served as president of Carnegie Steel and later became the first president of the United States Steel Corporation after its formation in 1901. He subsequently led Bethlehem Steel, helping expand it into a major producer, including during World War I. Known for his managerial skill and ability to motivate workers, Schwab was also a prominent public figure of the Gilded Age and early twentieth century. He died in New York City.
