Charles Wadsworth

Charles Wadsworth (1929–1997) was an American concert organist and a leading figure in U.S. chamber music presenting. He founded and directed the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s “Chamber Music at the Met” series, bringing chamber performances to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Wadsworth was also closely associated with the Spoleto Festival USA, where he served as artistic director of chamber music. Known for his musicianship and advocacy for chamber repertoire, he collaborated with prominent instrumentalists and singers and helped broaden audiences for intimate concert programs.
