Charles Thomas “Charlie” Munger (1924–2023) was an American investor and businessman best known as vice chairman of Berkshire Hathaway and the longtime business partner of Warren Buffett. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, he studied mathematics at the University of Michigan and later earned a law degree from Harvard Law School. Munger practiced law and worked in real estate development before turning primarily to investment management. He became Buffett’s close collaborator in the 1960s and served as Berkshire Hathaway’s vice chairman from 1978 until his death. Munger was widely recognized for advocating multidisciplinary thinking and for his influence on Berkshire’s long-term, high-quality investing approach.
