Chauncey Olcott and George Graff

Chauncey Olcott (1858–1932) was an American actor, singer, and songwriter best known for Irish-themed stage works and popular songs. A prominent performer in musical theatre, he helped shape the era’s sentimental “Irish” repertoire through both performance and composition. George Graff Jr. (1879–1954) was an American lyricist active in early 20th-century popular music and musical theatre, noted for frequent collaborations with composer Jerome Kern and other songwriters. When credited together as “Olcott and Graff,” the names typically indicate a partnership in which Olcott contributed music and/or performance association while Graff supplied lyrics for period songs and stage numbers.
