Chita Rivera

Chita Rivera (1933–2024) was an American actress, singer, and dancer celebrated for her work in Broadway musical theatre. Born in Washington, D.C., she became a leading performer of the modern musical, earning acclaim for her dynamic stage presence and distinctive voice. Rivera made her Broadway debut in *West Side Story* and later originated the role of Anita in the film version. She went on to star in landmark productions including *Chicago* and *Kiss of the Spider Woman*. Over her career she received multiple Tony Award nominations and won two Tony Awards. Rivera was also honored with the Kennedy Center Honors.
