Christian Nestell Bovee

Christian Nestell Bovee (1820–1904) was an American author and aphorist known for concise maxims and reflective observations. Born in New York, he became best known for compiling and publishing collections of brief thoughts on character, conduct, and everyday life. His books include *Thoughts, Feelings, and Fancies* and *Intuitions and Summaries of Thought*, works that helped secure his reputation as a writer of quotable sayings. Bovee’s aphorisms often blend moral reflection with wit, aiming to distill experience into memorable lines. He continued writing and publishing through the late nineteenth century and died in 1904.
