Christopher Morley
Christopher Morley (1890–1957) was an American novelist, essayist, journalist, and poet. Born in Haverford, Pennsylvania, he studied at Haverford College and later at New College, Oxford, as a Rhodes Scholar. Morley became known for witty, bookish writing that celebrated reading and everyday pleasures. He worked as a newspaper editor and columnist and was a longtime contributor to magazines. His best-known novels include *Parnassus on Wheels* (1917), a charming tale of a traveling book wagon, and its sequel *The Haunted Bookshop* (1919). He also wrote poetry and essays, and helped found the Baker Street Irregulars, a Sherlock Holmes society.
