Chuck Palahniuk

Charles Michael “Chuck” Palahniuk (born February 21, 1962) is an American novelist and journalist best known for *Fight Club* (1996). Born in Pasco, Washington, he grew up in Burbank, Washington, and later studied journalism at the University of Oregon. Before turning to fiction, he worked as a diesel mechanic and wrote for a local newspaper. His early writing was shaped by workshops and by experiences volunteering with hospice patients. After *Fight Club* gained wider attention through its 1999 film adaptation, Palahniuk published a series of darkly satirical novels, including *Survivor* (1999), *Choke* (2001), and *Lullaby* (2002).
