Clinton Scollard

Clinton Scollard (1860–1932) was an American poet, editor, and educator known for polished light verse and lyrical poetry. He was closely associated with Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, where he studied and later taught, becoming a longtime professor of English. Scollard also worked as an editor and contributed widely to magazines and periodicals, helping shape literary culture in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. His poetry appeared in numerous collections and was valued for its musicality, wit, and accessible sentiment. Remembered as both a campus figure and a popular poet of his era, he remained active in letters until his death.
