Condoleezza Rice

Condoleezza Rice (born 1954) is an American political scientist, diplomat, and author. She served as the 66th U.S. Secretary of State (2005–2009) and as National Security Advisor (2001–2005) under President George W. Bush, becoming the first woman to hold the latter post and the first African American woman to serve as Secretary of State. Rice is a professor of political science and has been affiliated with Stanford University, including as provost. Her books include the memoir *Extraordinary, Ordinary People* (2010) and *No Higher Honor* (2011), as well as policy-focused works on U.S. foreign relations.
