Corrie ten
Corrie ten Boom (1892–1983) was a Dutch Christian writer and Holocaust survivor. Born in Haarlem, Netherlands, she worked with her family in their watchmaking business. During World War II, the ten Booms helped Jews and others evade Nazi persecution, hiding people in their home. In 1944, Corrie and her family were arrested; she was imprisoned and later deported to Ravensbrück concentration camp, where her sister Betsie died. Corrie was released in 1944 and after the war traveled widely, speaking about faith, forgiveness, and reconciliation. Her best-known book, *The Hiding Place* (1971), recounts her wartime experiences.
