Dalai Lama

The 14th Dalai Lama was selected as the rebirth of the 13th Dalai Lama two years after his birth in 1935, though he was only formally recognized as the 14th Dalai Lama in 1950 when he was 15. During the 1959 Tibetan uprising, the Dalai Lama fled to India, where he established a Tibetan government in exile and denounced the People’s Republic of China. Since then, he has traveled the world, advocating for the welfare of Tibetans and teaching the principles of Tibetan Buddhism. In 1989, the Dalai Lama won the Nobel Peace Prize. The 14th Dalai Lama is the longest-living Dalai Lama.
