Dale Evans

Dale Evans (1912–2001) was an American actress, singer, and writer. Born Frances Octavia Smith in Uvalde, Texas, she became a popular film and radio performer and later a familiar face in Western entertainment. Evans starred with Roy Rogers in numerous movies and on television’s *The Roy Rogers Show*, and the pair married in 1947, becoming one of America’s best-known show-business couples. She also wrote books, including inspirational works, and is credited with creating the children’s song “Happy Trails.” Evans was inducted into the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame and is remembered for her entertainment career and her writing.
