Dan Aykroyd (Daniel Edward Aykroyd; born July 1, 1952) is a Canadian actor, comedian, screenwriter, and producer. He rose to prominence as an original cast member of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live,” earning multiple Emmy nominations and winning for writing. Aykroyd co-wrote and starred in the hit comedy “Ghostbusters” (1984) and its sequel, playing Dr. Raymond Stantz. He also co-created and starred in “The Blues Brothers” (1980) with John Belushi, based on their SNL characters. His film work includes “Trading Places,” “Spies Like Us,” and an Academy Award–nominated role in “Driving Miss Daisy.”
