Dan Wieden

Dan Wieden (1945–2022) was an American advertising executive and the co-founder of the independent agency Wieden+Kennedy. Based in Portland, Oregon, the firm became known for influential brand work, including campaigns for Nike. Wieden is widely credited with helping create Nike’s “Just Do It” slogan, which became one of the most recognizable taglines in modern advertising. Over his career, he championed bold, culturally attuned storytelling and helped build Wieden+Kennedy into an internationally respected creative shop. He remained closely associated with the agency’s distinctive voice and approach, shaping its reputation for inventive, high-impact advertising across multiple media.
