Daniel Tammet

Daniel Tammet (born 31 January 1979) is a British writer and essayist known for memoir and popular science writing. He gained international attention with *Born on a Blue Day* (2006), which describes his life with autism and synaesthesia and his experiences as a mental calculator. He later wrote *Embracing the Wide Sky* (2009), a book exploring mathematics and the mind for general readers. Tammet has also published *Thinking in Numbers* (2012), a collection of essays, and the memoir *Every Word Is a Bird We Teach to Sing* (2016). He has contributed writing to outlets including *The Guardian* and *The New York Times*.
