Daniele Vare

Daniele Varè (1880–1935) was an Italian diplomat and novelist. He is best known for humorous, cosmopolitan fiction that draws on his experience of international life and the manners of diplomacy. Writing in English as well as Italian, Varè reached a wide readership with satirical novels that blend social observation with farce. Among his best-known books are *The Maker of Heavenly Trousers* and *The Laughing Diplomat*, both noted for their light tone and sharp eye for character. Varè’s work helped popularize a witty, worldly style of interwar comic writing, often set against the backdrop of European politics and society.
