Danny Elfman

Danny Elfman (born May 29, 1953) is an American composer, singer, and songwriter. He first gained prominence as the lead singer and principal songwriter of the new wave band Oingo Boingo, which formed in Los Angeles and was active from 1979 to 1995. Elfman later became widely known for composing film scores, beginning with *Pee-wee’s Big Adventure* (1985). He has frequently collaborated with director Tim Burton, scoring films including *Beetlejuice* (1988), *Batman* (1989), *Edward Scissorhands* (1990), and *The Nightmare Before Christmas* (1993). He also composed the theme for *The Simpsons* and has written concert music.
