Dar Williams

Dar Williams (born April 11, 1967) is an American singer-songwriter and folk musician. Raised in Westchester County, New York, she emerged in the early 1990s and gained attention with her major-label debut, *The Honesty Room* (1995). She followed with albums including *Mortal City* (1996), *The Green World* (2000), and *Beauty of the Rain* (2003), building a reputation for literate, socially observant songwriting. Williams has toured widely and has also written about music and community, including the book *What I Found in a Thousand Towns* (2017). Her work is associated with contemporary folk and singer-songwriter traditions.
