David Chase

David Chase (born David Henry Chase, August 22, 1945) is an American television writer, director, and producer. He is best known as the creator of HBO’s landmark drama *The Sopranos* (1999–2007), for which he served as showrunner and wrote and directed multiple episodes. Chase began his career writing for television in the 1970s, contributing to series such as *The Rockford Files* and later creating the crime drama *Almost Grown*. He also created the series *Northern Exposure* and developed *I’ll Fly Away*. In 2021, he co-wrote and produced the prequel film *The Many Saints of Newark*.
