David McCullough

David McCullough (1933–2022) was an American historian and popular nonfiction author known for narrative histories grounded in extensive research. He wrote acclaimed biographies including *Truman* (1992) and *John Adams* (2001), as well as *The Wright Brothers* (2015). McCullough received the Pulitzer Prize for Biography or Autobiography twice, for *Truman* and *John Adams*. He also won the National Book Award for *Truman*. His work often focused on American political leadership, innovation, and the shaping of national character, and it reached a wide readership through clear prose and storytelling. McCullough’s books have been adapted for television, including *John Adams* as an HBO miniseries.
