Dee Snider (born Daniel Dee Snider on March 15, 1955) is an American musician and songwriter best known as the lead singer and primary songwriter of the heavy metal band Twisted Sister. With the group, he helped bring theatrical hard rock to mainstream audiences, notably through the 1984 album *Stay Hungry* and the hit singles “We’re Not Gonna Take It” and “I Wanna Rock.” Snider became a prominent advocate for artistic freedom after testifying before the U.S. Senate in 1985 during hearings on music censorship.
