Dimebag Darrell

Darrell Lance Abbott (1966–2004), known as Dimebag Darrell, was an American guitarist celebrated for his influential work in heavy metal. He rose to prominence as the lead guitarist of Pantera, helping shape the band’s sound across its major-label era and becoming known for aggressive riffing, fast, precise solos, and a distinctive tone. After Pantera’s breakup, Abbott co-founded Damageplan with his brother, drummer Vinnie Paul. On December 8, 2004, Abbott was shot and killed while performing with Damageplan at the Alrosa Villa nightclub in Columbus, Ohio. His playing remains widely cited as a landmark in modern metal guitar.
