Don Shula

Donald Francis Shula (1930–2020) was an American football coach, best known for leading the Miami Dolphins and for guiding the NFL’s only perfect season in 1972. Born in Grand River, Ohio, he played college football at John Carroll University and later in the NFL as a defensive back. Shula became a head coach with the Baltimore Colts in 1963, reaching Super Bowl III. He took over the Dolphins in 1970 and won Super Bowls VII and VIII, including the undefeated 1972 campaign. Shula retired after the 1995 season as the NFL’s all-time winningest head coach.
