Dwight L. Moody

Dwight L. Moody (1837–1899) was an American evangelical preacher and revivalist who became one of the most influential figures in nineteenth-century Protestantism. Born in Northfield, Massachusetts, he moved to Chicago as a young man and rose from business work to full-time ministry. Moody gained wide prominence through large-scale revival meetings in the United States and the United Kingdom, emphasizing personal conversion and practical Christian living. He helped found institutions that continued his work, including the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. He also established related ministries such as the Northfield schools and a publishing and conference network that carried his message beyond his lifetime.
