E. B. White

E.B. White was born in Mount Vernon, New York. He served in the army before attending and graduating from Cornell University in 1901. At Cornell, White was an editor of The Cornell Daily Sun. After graduating, White worked for the United Press, American Legion News Service, and Seattle Times. White was also a contributor to The New Yorker and co-authored an updated version of The Elements of Style, the English style guide commonly referred to as “Strunk and White,” after its authors. In the late 1930s, White began writing children’s fiction, penning the beloved classics Stuart Little, and Charlotte’s Web. White received widespread acclaim and numerous awards for his children’s books, particularly Charlotte’s Web.
