E. M. Forster

Edward Morgan Forster (1879–1970) was an English novelist, essayist, and short story writer. Born in London, he was educated at Tonbridge School and King’s College, Cambridge. His early novels include *Where Angels Fear to Tread* (1905) and *A Room with a View* (1908), followed by *Howards End* (1910). Forster achieved international acclaim with *A Passage to India* (1924), shaped in part by his visits to India. His work often examines class, social convention, and the tensions between personal connection and public life. He also wrote criticism and essays, including *Aspects of the Novel* (1927).
