Ed O'Neill

Ed O’Neill (Edward Leonard O’Neill; born April 12, 1946) is an American actor. He is best known for playing Al Bundy on the Fox sitcom *Married... with Children* (1987–1997) and Jay Pritchett on ABC’s *Modern Family* (2009–2020). Born in Youngstown, Ohio, he studied at Youngstown State University and later at Ohio University. Before acting, he played college football and briefly signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers. O’Neill also appeared in films including *Dutch* (1991) and *Wayne’s World* (1992). For *Modern Family*, he received multiple Primetime Emmy Award nominations.
