Edna St. Vincent Millay
Edna St. Vincent Millay (1892–1950) was an American poet and playwright known for her highly musical lyric verse and for reviving traditional forms such as the sonnet in early 20th-century American poetry. Born in Rockland, Maine, she gained early attention with the long poem *Renascence* (1912). Millay studied at Vassar College and became a prominent literary voice in the 1920s. Her collection *The Harp-Weaver and Other Poems* earned the 1923 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, making her one of the era’s most celebrated poets. She also wrote plays and translated works for the stage. Millay died in Austerlitz, New York.
