Edward R. Murrow
Edward R. Murrow (1908–1965) was an American broadcast journalist best known for his work with CBS. Born in Greensboro, North Carolina, and raised in Washington State, he became a leading radio correspondent during World War II, reporting from London during the Blitz and later from the European theater. Murrow built a renowned team of foreign correspondents known as the “Murrow Boys.” In the 1950s he helped pioneer television journalism as the host of CBS’s *See It Now*, including a landmark 1954 broadcast examining Senator Joseph McCarthy. Murrow later served as director of the United States Information Agency under President John F. Kennedy.
