Eleanor Bergstein

Eleanor Bergstein (born 1944) is an American screenwriter, novelist, and producer. She is best known for writing the screenplay for the 1987 film *Dirty Dancing*, a romantic drama that became a major popular success. Bergstein also worked on stage adaptations related to *Dirty Dancing*, helping translate the story for live performance. In addition to her screen work, she has written fiction as a novelist.
