Eli Pariser

Eli Pariser (born 1980) is an American author and activist known for popularizing the concept of the “filter bubble,” the idea that personalized online systems can narrow what people see and learn. He set out this argument in his book *The Filter Bubble: What the Internet Is Hiding from You* (2011). Pariser has worked at the intersection of politics, media, and technology, including serving as executive director of MoveOn.org. He also co-founded Upworthy, a digital media company focused on sharing stories designed to inform and engage broad audiences.
