Ethel Barrymore
Ethel Barrymore (1879–1959) was an American stage and film actress from the Barrymore acting family. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of actors Maurice Barrymore and Georgiana Drew and the sister of John and Lionel Barrymore. She became a leading Broadway performer and was widely known as “The First Lady of the American Theatre.” Barrymore also appeared in motion pictures and won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for *None but the Lonely Heart* (1944). She married Russell Griswold Colt in 1909; they later divorced, and she had three children. Barrymore died in Hollywood, California.
