Ezra Pound

Ezra Pound attended various private elementary schools growing up in Idaho Territory and was admitted to the University of Pennsylvania in 1901 at age 15. After receiving a BPhil and M.A., Pound moved to Europe and worked as an editor of literary magazines. Following the first World War, Pound moved from England to Italy, where he was later arrested by American forces for making anti-U.S. radio broadcasts. In detention, Pound began working on his masterpiece epic poem, The Cantos. Deemed unfit to stand trial for his crimes, Pound was incarcerated in a psychiatric hospital in Washington D.C. for 12 years, after which he moved back to Italy, where he lived until his death.
