Federico Fellini

Federico Fellini (1920–1993) was an Italian film director and screenwriter whose highly personal style made him a leading figure in auteur cinema. Born in Rimini, he began his career writing for radio and film before moving into directing in the postwar period. Fellini gained international acclaim with *La Dolce Vita* (1960), a portrait of modern Rome that became a cultural landmark, and with *8½* (1963), an inventive, self-reflexive film about artistic crisis. His work is often noted for its dreamlike imagery, satire, and blending of memory and fantasy. Fellini won multiple Academy Awards for Best International Feature Film.
