Federico Garcia Lorca

Federico García Lorca (1898–1936) was a Spanish poet and playwright, and a leading figure of the Generation of ’27. Born in Fuente Vaqueros, near Granada, he studied in Granada and later in Madrid, where he became part of influential artistic circles. Lorca achieved major recognition for poetry collections such as *Romancero gitano* and *Poeta en Nueva York*, and for plays including *Bodas de sangre*, *Yerma*, and *La casa de Bernarda Alba*. He also worked in theatre direction, notably with the university troupe La Barraca during the Second Spanish Republic. Lorca was killed in 1936 during the Spanish Civil War.
