Florence Nightingale

Florence Nightingale (1820–1910) was a British social reformer, statistician, and the founder of modern nursing. She became internationally known for organizing nursing care for wounded soldiers during the Crimean War, where her emphasis on sanitation and hospital management helped improve conditions. After the war she campaigned for health reforms, using statistical analysis and data visualization to argue for better public health and military medicine. Nightingale also helped shape professional nursing education and standards. Her influential book *Notes on Nursing* (1859) set out practical principles of patient care and remains a landmark in nursing literature.
