Frank Lloyd Wright

Frank Lloyd Wright grew up in Wisconsin and moved to Chicago as a young man to find work. He was hired as a draftsman at an architectural firm, where he started to design houses. His superiors were impressed with his unique, organic architectural style, and Wright eventually opened his own firm in Chicago. After 18 years, Wright left his first wife, Catherine Tobin, and moved to Spring Green, Wisconsin with his second wife, Mamah Borthwick Cheney. There, he constructed his famous home, Taliesin. Wright’s work continued to grow in popularity and he was eventually commissioned to design overseas projects, like the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo. Altogether, Wright designed more than 1,000 structures. He is considered the greatest American architect of all-time.
