Frank Scully

Frank Scully (1892–1964) was an American journalist and author. He wrote for newspapers and magazines and became widely known for his 1950 book *Behind the Flying Saucers*, which helped popularize early “flying saucer” and UFO claims in the United States. In that book, Scully reported sensational stories about alleged recovered spacecraft and secret government knowledge, drawing on sources later shown to be unreliable. The controversy surrounding *Behind the Flying Saucers* made Scully a prominent figure in mid‑century UFO culture, even as critics challenged the book’s accuracy. He continued to write and comment on public affairs during his career.
