Gail Sheehy

Gail Sheehy was born in Mamaroneck, New York in 1937. In 1958, she graduated from University of Vermont with a BA in English, and in 1970, she received an MA in Journalism from Columbia University. Sheehy was part of the “New Journalism” movement, and her 1972 New York magazine cover story “The Secret of Grey Gardens” was written in this immersive style. Sheehy has written articles and biographies on a number of public figures, including Vanity Fair profiles on Hilary Clinton, Newt Gingrich, George W. Bush, and Margaret Thatcher. Her bestselling book Passages has been described as one of the most influential books of our time.
