George Lorimer

George Horace Lorimer (1867–1937) was an American journalist and editor best known for leading *The Saturday Evening Post*. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, he became editor of the magazine in 1899 and remained in that role for decades, shaping it into one of the most widely read periodicals in the United States. Under his editorship, the *Post* published popular fiction and commentary and helped define mainstream American magazine culture in the early twentieth century. Lorimer also wrote, including the widely read “Letters from a Self-Made Merchant to His Son,” first published in the *Post* and later issued as a book. He died in 1937.
