George Pataki

George E. Pataki (born 1945) is an American politician who served as the 53rd Governor of New York from 1995 to 2006. A member of the Republican Party, he was elected governor in 1994 and won reelection in 1998 and 2002. Pataki previously served in the New York State Legislature, including in the State Senate. As governor, he led the state during the September 11, 2001 attacks and their aftermath, working with local and federal officials on response and recovery efforts. After leaving office, he remained active in public policy and civic affairs.
