George William Curtis
George William Curtis (1824–1892) was an American writer, editor, and public speaker. After traveling in Europe and the Middle East, he joined the Brook Farm community and became associated with New England Transcendentalist circles. Curtis wrote fiction and essays, including the long-running “Easy Chair” column, and became a prominent voice in American letters. He contributed to *Harper’s Weekly* and later served as its editor, using the magazine as a platform for political and cultural commentary.
