Gilles Deleuze

Gilles Deleuze (1925–1995) was a French philosopher whose work is often associated with post-structuralism. Born in Paris, he studied at the Sorbonne and later taught at several institutions, including the University of Paris VIII (Vincennes–Saint-Denis). Deleuze wrote influential studies of philosophers and artists, and developed original concepts in metaphysics, ethics, and aesthetics. His major solo works include *Difference and Repetition* (1968) and *The Logic of Sense* (1969). In the 1970s and 1980s he collaborated with psychoanalyst Félix Guattari on *Anti-Oedipus* (1972) and *A Thousand Plateaus* (1980), volumes of *Capitalism and Schizophrenia*.
