Gloria Stuart

Gloria Stuart (1910–2010) was an American actress and artist whose career spanned stage, film, and television. After early work in theater, she became a Hollywood leading lady in the 1930s, appearing in films such as *The Old Dark House* (1932) and *The Invisible Man* (1933). In later decades she focused extensively on visual art, including printmaking and book arts, while continuing to act intermittently. Stuart returned to wide public attention for her role as the elderly Rose Dawson Calvert in James Cameron’s blockbuster *Titanic* (1997), a performance that earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She lived to be 100.
