Gordon Brown

Gordon Brown (born 1951) is a British Labour Party politician who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 2007 to 2010. He was Member of Parliament for Dunfermline East from 1983 to 2005 and for Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath from 2005 to 2015. Brown served as Chancellor of the Exchequer from 1997 to 2007 under Prime Minister Tony Blair, overseeing major changes to economic policy, including granting operational independence to the Bank of England. He became Labour leader in 2007 and led the party through the 2010 general election. Brown later stepped down as Labour leader.
