Harland David Sanders (Colonel Sanders)
Harland David Sanders (1890–1980) was an American businessman best known as the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC). Born in Indiana, he worked a wide range of jobs before running a roadside restaurant in Corbin, Kentucky, where he developed his fried chicken recipe and cooking method. In 1935, Kentucky’s governor granted him the honorary title of “Kentucky Colonel,” a name he later adopted as part of his public persona. Sanders began franchising his chicken in the 1950s, helping KFC grow into an international fast-food brand. He sold the company in 1964 but remained closely associated with its image.
