Henry Kissinger

Henry Alfred Kissinger (1923–2023) was a German-born American diplomat, political scientist, and author. Born in Fürth, Germany, he fled Nazi persecution with his family and emigrated to the United States in 1938. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, then studied at Harvard University, where he later taught and wrote on international relations. Kissinger became U.S. National Security Advisor (1969–1975) and Secretary of State (1973–1977) under Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford. He played a central role in U.S. foreign policy, including détente with the Soviet Union and opening relations with China.
