Henry Knox Sherrill

Henry Knox Sherrill (1890–1980) was an American Episcopal bishop and prominent church leader. He served as Bishop of Massachusetts and later became Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church in the United States, holding that national office from 1952 to 1958. During his tenure he helped guide the church through the postwar years and was widely recognized for his steady, pastoral leadership. Sherrill was also known as a religious author, writing on Christian faith and the life of the church for a broad readership. Remembered for his public witness and administrative gifts, he remained an influential voice in American Anglicanism.
